Company or Charity Membership
Company or Charity Membership is for individuals or organisations that want to support LCVS in achieving its objects and take an active part in its governance.
We welcome applications for membership because we believe that membership brings real benefits both to our work and for society more generally. These include:
- Enhancing the trustee board's transparency and accountability
- Providing a greater appreciation of the needs of voluntary community and faith groups and of donors to charitable causes
- Improving our impact within the voluntary community and faith sector and giving weight to our advocacy role with public bodies
- Supporting philanthropy and providing fundraising opportunities
- Providing a consistent source of trustees
- Enabling individuals to be more involved in their local communities and increasing individual participation in civil society
Our work in supporting 'first-line' organisations gains legitimacy because members share and support our objects, which are:
- To promote, assist and encourage charitable endeavour in Liverpool and its vicinity and beyond, and the effective and economical management of charitable funds, and
- To encourage altruism in society by promoting giving as a means of procuring resources for charities in any part of the world.
Membership implies support of the Mission and Values of LCVS
"Membership of the Charity shall be for the benefit of the Charity and Members shall be stewards holding their membership not for personal material benefit but as guardians of the objects of the Charity"
Limited Liability
The liability of members is limited:
"Every member promises, if the Charity is dissolved while he, she or it remains a member or within 12 months afterwards, to pay up to £1 towards the costs of dissolution and the liabilities incurred by the Charity before the contributor ceased to be a member"
Membership Cost
Membership of LCVS costs annually:
- £15 for groups with an annual income of over £25,000
- £10 for groups with an annual income of under £25,000
